CASE STUDY
Match Weekly — Kelsey Publishing
The Client:
Match Weekly is a fast-paced, visually intensive football magazine published by Kelsey Publishing, following their acquisition of the title from Bauer Media.
Kelsey - best known for their specialist hobby and enthusiast titles - brought the magazine into their portfolio with a clear brief: maintain quality while significantly reducing production overhead.

The Brief:
Under Bauer, Match Weekly had been produced by a team of five designers. Kelsey's acquisition created an opportunity to rethink the production model entirely - reducing resource without compromising the title's busy, detail-heavy visual identity, and without disrupting existing print and production schedules.

What We Did:
ATG Media worked with Kelsey to migrate the full production workflow onto our PageTrak editorial management system, rebuilding the production process around ATG's established design methodology rather than simply replicating the previous team structure.
Within a few weeks, the title had transitioned from five designers to three - and then, as confidence in the new workflow grew, to a single ATG designer handling the complete issue. The frequency also shifted from weekly to bi-weekly, further consolidating the production schedule without any loss of the visual energy the title's readership expects.
The Outcome:
A title that previously required five designers to produce now runs on one — a reduction in resource of 80% — while maintaining the quality and turnaround that a busy newsstand football magazine demands. For Kelsey, it demonstrated exactly what ATG's workflow systems make possible: not just design production, but a fundamentally more efficient publishing operation.
